Practitioner Section

Our massage therapists specialize in performance-focused bodywork, working with athletes and active individuals to reduce tension, improve mobility, and support recovery. Each session is tailored to your body and your goals—not a one-size-fits-all routine. They may also utilize scraping, cupping, or percussion techniques, depending on what your body needs for that day.

What to Expect During Treatment

We have excellent massage therapists of both genders available for your comfort. You will always be appropriately draped, and your comfort and boundaries are respected at all times. Your massage therapist will review any sore or sensitive areas with you, and will also communicate with Dr. Cutler on specific treatment goals. They may ask you about your preference for pressure throughout the experience. The massage room is a private, quiet room in the basement that has relaxing music and smells to help you enjoy a reset.

Important Note: Please hydrate with water and electrolytes before and after your massage appointment. This will improve recovery and results and will allow your body to more readily eliminate toxins and inflammation that is released from tissues during the massage.

Massage FAQ

Does massage hurt?

It can be uncomfortable in tight areas, but it should always feel productive—not overwhelming. Pressure is adjusted to your tolerance. You may notice some muscle soreness a couple hours or a day or two later. Generally, this is a normal response as tissue recovers and inflammation is handled by your body.

Do I have to undress completely?

No, but it helps. You may undress to your comfort level in total privacy and climb under the sheets. The massage therapist is trained to appropriately drape you at all times, and only the area being treated is exposed. Your comfort and modesty are important to us.

What kind of massage do you offer?

We tailor each session. This may include deep tissue, trigger point work, or more relaxing techniques depending on your needs. Some therapists may utilize cupping to draw blood flow to the surface and break up adhesions. They may utilize metal tools in a technique called "gua sha" to help address fascial restrictions.

How often should I come in?

That depends on your goals. Some come in occasionally for recovery, others benefit from consistent sessions to maintain mobility and performance.

Is this just for relaxation?

No—while it can be relaxing, our focus is improving tissue quality, movement, and recovery.

What kind of lotion do you use?

When needed, we use a hypoallergenic, unscented, non-greasy lotion—especially for dry or sensitive skin. We do not use or sell CBD products in our office.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH MASSAGE THERAPY

FIRST VISIT

60 Minutes (typically)

We review your goals, areas of tension, and preferences before starting. Come showered, hydrated, and ready to relax—no prep needed.

TREATMENT

30, 60, 90, or 120 Minutes

Each session is tailored to you. We may use deep tissue, trigger point work, or lighter techniques depending on what your body needs that day.

DURING/AFTER CARE

Most patients feel fullness in the area—often described as “bubble wrap under the skin.” Mild soreness is normal. Avoid NSAIDs, icing, or heat, and keep the area moving lightly.

GETTING THE BEST RESULTS

PRP works by stimulating your body’s healing response. Stay hydrated, avoid anti-inflammatories, and follow movement guidance. Ozone may be used between PRP sessions to support recovery.
